Pinpointing This Week: Unified Vision.

No Comment 21 Views

A systemic conception of life and a unified way of looking at the world used to be our default way of thinking for the roughly 5 million years of our existence, but somewhere along the way we became reductionists and forgot why a whole systems view of life is integral (and imperative) to the biological, cognitive, social and ecological dimensions of life. Reminding us that life, in and of itself, is really a system of networks and relationships — a continual flow of self-making, energy and interaction — author, activist and scientist Fritjof Capra, P.hd has this to say…

“It’s about seeing the world as a living network, and not as a machine.”

As anyone who did a physics class knows, small actions can produce massive changes, especially when combined with appropriate tools and systems to facilitate maximum impact. From Civic Ecology, to Holonomics, to the art of mapping, this week we’re focusing on the new pervasiveness of whole systems thinking and how the impacts of considering our interconnectedness is driving change across society, government and business.
